Rites of Irrigation

    Egyptian Flag

This rite was started as way to increase the amount of water that was let through the canals to irrigate the earth. The rite was conducted by throwing into the river a virgin attractively dressed as a sacrifice to obtain a plentiful inundation, now this is relic survived in the casting of offerings of gold, to secure the growth of crops by uniting the waters with the fertilisation of the earth.
